As Chair of the Exhibits Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to join us this year at the Joint Annual Meeting of the Southern and the Mid-Atlantic Chapters of the Medical Library Association to be held at the Westin Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. The theme of our 2006 meeting is “Together: New Horizons, New Opportunities.”” Medical librarians from Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands will be gathering to celebrate our accomplishments and look ahead to another year! Our meeting is scheduled for October 12-16, 2006, with time designated for exhibits throughout the meeting. Exhibit set-up is planned for Friday afternoon, October 13th. To insure optimal opportunities for exhibitors and librarians to engage in meaningful discussions, the formal exhibit opening on Saturday morning between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. includes a continental breakfast for all meeting attendees. Additionally, all meeting breaks with refreshments and the poster session will be collocated with the exhibitors. The exhibit area will close prior to the banquet on Sunday evening, October 15th.

The Westin Buckhead’s pre-function conference space that we will use for exhibits can comfortably accommodate booths. However, since the overall capacity is limited, early reservations are encouraged. Booth assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis. Each booth includes a 6’ skirted table, chair, waste basket and electricity. The exhibit fee of $725.00 includes the booth space as well as a full meeting registration for one representative. To obtain the special conference rate of $75/day for Internet access, please e-mail me for details.

The Exhibits Committee is also offering opportunities to advertise in the joint SCMLA/MAC meeting printed program as indicated on the attached Exhibit Application form. Sponsorships of special events are also most welcomed and should be discussed directly with me or the Local Arrangements Committee Chair, Sandra Franklin.
