Together: New Horizons, New Opportunities

Welcome to Atlanta where every day is an opening day! We’ll have two times the fun when the Southern Chapter and Mid-Atlantic Chapter get together for a joint annual meeting you won’t forget!

This joint meeting is a unique opportunity for our chapters to combine our best programming efforts. We have assembled an impressive trio of health leaders as plenary speakers:

• Dr. David Satcher, former Surgeon General of the United States, on health disparities
• Dr. Joe Bresee, CDC’s Influenza Branch, on bird influenza.
• Dr. Mark Williams, Emory Healthcare, on consumer health literacy.

The outstanding list of educational opportunities includes:

• A nationally recognized management seminar supported by an MLA/LMS Leadership Education Challenge Grant
• Roundtable Sessions - a MAC favorite and new for SC members
• SC Hospital Librarians’ Program – a new feature for MAC members
• Multiple paper sessions and up to 50 posters, all eligible for research awards, an SC tradition

Take time also to enjoy Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood, an area teeming with stores and restaurants. There’s a free neighborhood mini bus, called the Buc, to shuttle us around, or you can walk to Lenox Square in minutes. The nearby Buckhead MARTA provides easy and affordable trips to and from the airport, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta sports attractions, and the fabulous new Georgia Aquarium.
