Instructor Biographies

Max Anderson earned his MLIS in 1999 from Florida State University, where he was named Graduate Student of the Year and was President of the Library School ALA Chapter. Shortly after graduating, he worked as a Public Access Computer Trainer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, delivering training and installing computers in rural libraries across the country. While working with the Gates Foundation, Max became involved with the creation of what became WebJunction, an online portal for libraries. Currently he moderates two discussion boards and serves as an advocate in addition to teaching an introductory course online about the portal for SOLINET. Since 2003, he has worked at SOLINET as an Educational Services Instructor. He writes and teaches classes on various OCLC services, web design, and general technology to librarians around the Southeast. Max has also spoken at various conferences, including Computers in Libraries, SOLINET Users Groups, and state library conferences. Some of his interests include RFID, HTML, Internet Filtering, cataloging, and advocacy and support for libraries.

Greg Bodin, MLIS, AHIP is the Technology Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine South Central Region and is employed by the Houston Academy of Medicine - Texas Medical Center Library in Houston, Texas. He is responsible for providing Internet and technology instruction and support to medical librarians and health professionals within a five state region, as well as training and outreach for a variety of National Library of Medicine programs and services. Mr. Bodin has 11 years of experience as a librarian and eight years of experience as a medical librarian. He received his Master of Library and Information Science degree from Louisiana State University and is a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

Dr. Idleman has more than 15 years of experience as a survey researcher and statistician, working with academicians and professional associations on a number of research needs. She is a consultant with SOLINET, conducting the Long Range Strategic Planning surveys and providing focus group and survey services on other program initiatives, and conducting workshops on data collection, survey methodology, and SPSS. She received her degree from Georgia State University. Dr. Idleman is a member of the American Educational Research Association and is past president and program chair of the SIG on Survey Research in Education (AERA).

Tina Mason is the Manager of Preservation Services at the Southeastern
Library Network (SOLINET). She was promoted to manager in October 2005
after serving as the Preservation Field Services Officer, then the
Preservation Education Officer for nearly 7 years. She received an MLIS
and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation from the University
of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining SOLINET, she spent a year working
in the Book Conservation Lab of the Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
She lectures on a wide range of preservation topics and is active in the
ALA, Preservation and Reformatting Section, the American Institute for
Conservation, Society of American Archivists, and the Society of Georgia
Archivists.

Greg R. Notess has been writing, speaking, and consulting about Internet information resources and search engines since 1991. A three-time Information Authorship award winner, he is the "On the Net" and "Internet Search Engine Update" columnist for ONLINE. Greg is the author of the several Internet books including his latest, Teaching Web Search Skills: Techniques and Strategies of Top Trainers (due out in July 2006), and the first three editions of Government Information on the Internet. An internationally-known conference speaker on search engines and other Internet topics, Greg has spoken at conferences such as Internet Librarian, Online Information, Web Search University, the Special Libraries Association Annual Conference, and international meetings in London, Oslo, Stockholm, Paris, Pretoria, Montreal, Copenhagen, Sydney, Zagreb, and several locations in India. On the Web, Greg maintains Search Engine Showdown http://searchengineshowdown.com/ which reviews, compares, analyzes, and tries to keep current up with the rapidly changing Web search tools. Greg has consulted for several major (and minor) search engines and is also a professor and reference librarian at Montana State University-Bozeman.

Terri Ottosen has served as the consumer health outreach coordinator for the Southeastern Atlantic region since February 2005. She has worked in public, academic and medical libraries for over 14 years enjoying every aspect of library work from shelving to management. Terri began her professional career as a reference librarian in a HBCU in south central Los Angeles and continued in an academic medical center as the bibliographic instruction coordinator and reference librarian at the University of Southern California. Terri recently held a position as manager of a hospital library in Virginia, bringing a variety of knowledge and understanding of the field that assists her in this role. Terri has experience teaching, developing classes, budgeting, and consultation. She has served on many professional committees and is a senior member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

J. Dale Prince, MA, MLS, AHIP, is Technology Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern Atlantic Region located at the Human Services Library of the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Dale provides internet and technology instruction to medical librarians and health professionals within the region, as well as training and outreach for a variety of National Library of Medicine programs and services. Mr. Prince has 15 years experience as an instructor and trainer and five years of experience as a medical librarian. He received his Master of Library Science from Indiana University, is a member of Beta Phi Mu and is a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

Sheila L. Snow-Croft, MA, MLIS is Outreach and Education Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern Atlantic Region. She provides PubMed training and outreach services to medical librarians and health professionals in the Southeastern Region and has instruction, training, outreach education, and medical library experience. She received her Master of Sciene in Library and Informaton Studies from the University of Alabama.
