District of Columbia

In August, Michael Acadia joined Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library as Web Librarian. He previously worked in libraries in the Rochester New York area. Leah Pellegrino is the new Electronic Resources Librarian; most recently she was a Reference Librarian at Dahlgren Library at Georgetown University.


Maryland

Nancy Roderer, director of the Welch Medical Library at Johns Hopkins, has been appointed interim director of the Sheridan Libraries and interim dean of university libraries, beginning September 1, 2001. Roderer will serve in that role until a successor is appointed for James G. Neal who is leaving Hopkins to become vice-president for information services and university librarian at Columbia University.


North Carolina

Charlie Lackey has joined the staff of Duke University Medical Center Library, as Head, Bibliographic/Cataloging Services. Charlie replaces Janie Trumbull and comes to us from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland, where she has spent the past fifteen years as head cataloger. Charlie was also monographic cataloger at Frostburg and has worked in the public sector. She has served on various library, campus and community committees at both local and state levels. Charlie received her BA and MLS degrees from North Carolina Central University and her MBA from Frostburg State University. Her professional organization memberships include ALA, Maryland Library Association and American Association of University Women. Charlie and her husband Walter are excited to be back in North Carolina. Please join us in welcoming her to our staff.
